Hydro Aluminium Metal has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) to build an up-to-date Aluminium Extrusion Ingot recycling plant in Cassopolis, Michigan in the U.S.

Canadian government approves Algoma Steel’s Green Steel Commitment plan
Algoma’s Green Steel Transformation plan has been approved by the Canadian government who commit to a fund of $420 million in financial support. Algoma also announced a potential transfer to an Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) for steelmaking, to further their aims towards a greener manufacturing company.

In the context of the current situation and with the current travel restrictions impacting a number of exhibitors, sponsors and speakers, organiser RX (Reed Exhibitions) have made the difficult but appropriate decision to postpone ALUMINIUM 2021 to next year. ALUMINIUM trade fair has been replaced with a congress: The ALUMINIUM Business Summit which will take place in Düsseldorf from 28 to 29 September.

Rio Tinto has declared force majeure on customer contracts at Richards Bay Minerals (RBM) in South Africa due to an escalation in the security situation at the operations. This has led to the decision to cease operations until the safety and security position improves.
