Rio Tinto has begun construction to increase its capacity to cast low-carbon, high-value aluminium billets by 202,000 metric tonnes at its Alma, Quebec smelter.

Emirates Global Aluminium has joined HILT CRC to progress research into the decarbonisation of alumina refining. Joining international research and technology providers, EGA is HILT’s first industry partner with operations entirely outside Australia.

Alupro calls for government action to secure an aluminium-friendly DRS
The 29 members of Alupro sent a joint letter to Thérèse Coffey MP, calling for immediate government action in order to ensure that a deposit return scheme (DRS) further enhances aluminium recycling rates without compromising the market.

ASI updates its Standards Guidance and clarifies Standards language in latest release
At its 5 April 2023 meeting the ASI Board adopted as ASI By-Laws the updated ASI Performance Standard Guidance V3.1, ASI Chain of Custody Standard Guidance V2.1, ASI Claims Guide V3, and ASI Glossary V1.1 documents, developed in accordance with ASI Standards Setting and Revision Procedure (December 2022).

AS Oxidwerke has achieved ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022) Certification for the recycling of aluminium salt slags – from different customers and of varying composition – into its aluminium components, salt and oxides.
