Bauxite: global demand is up, but exporting nations might pose problems
A report in India's Business Standard has hinted that while global demand for bauxite is likely to rise at an annual rate of 6.9% from 220Mt in 2011 to 750Mt by 2030, availability of the mineral from which alumina is derived, might be limited if exporting nations follow Indonesia's lead and slap on punitive export duties.
