Wagstaff has appointed Mike Kosmicki as its Vice President of Research and Development, effective immediately.

Wagstaff is a company specialising in the manufacturing and distribution of Direct Chill Casting Systems for the aluminium industry.

The North American family-owned company also provides custom solutions for billet and ingot casting systems, automation, and machinery, and is headquartered in Spokane, Washington, with a second location in Hebron, Kentucky.

The company has supplied thousands of custom systems to aluminium producers in 59 countries.

Mr Kosmicki joined Wagstaff in April 1996 after earning a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.

He has been the chief architect of the company's core PLC and SCADA systems since 1998 and played a key role in numerous automation advancements.

From 2014 to 2018 Mike broadened his aluminium industry expertise at Novelis, contributing to recycling expansions, automotive finishing enhancements, and earning multiple patents.

Mr Kosmicki replaces Mike Anderson, who is retiring after nearly 35 years of service.

Mr Anderson joined the company in May 1991 and has served as Vice President of Research and Development since late 2001.

In this role Mr Anderson led key product innovations that strengthened Wagstaff’s market leadership and collaborated closely with Technical Services on the successful commissioning of hundreds of casting systems worldwide.

His contributions have been instrumental in building the Wagstaff brand. The company extends its deep gratitude for his leadership and wishes him a happy and fulfilling retirement.
