The aim is to improve its overall service to North American customers and represents the final step in its plan for the current year, which has seen added aluminum fabrication activity and technical competencies around the
country, including an extension of customer support levels.
In Phoenix, Hydro has created 60,000 square feet of manufacturing space for fabrication, including CNC machining and product assembly. The company has doubled its number of engineers for both customer and operational support. The
integration programme is now underway and will be completed by the year end.
Hydro employs over 200 people in Phoenix, handling extrusion, drawn tube and aluminum remelt activities. Once the new operations have been brought online, the total number of employees will have grown by nearly 25%.
Mike Stier, the man behind Hydro's extrusion business in the USA's West Region, said that Hydro was creating an integrated aluminium fabrication centre of excellence. "We want to grow, and this shows that our customers appreciate the work we do for them."
Globally, Hydro employs 22,000 people in 40 countries and is a leading provider of extruded aluminum solutions in the USA.
