Alcoa, billed as the world's largest producer of rolled aluminium products, has broken ground on the expansion of its Tennessee rolling mill, which is about to undergo a $275 million upgrade.

The plant expansion will be completed by the middle of 2015 and will take on an additional 200 full-time employees in addition to generating 400 construction jobs during the upgrade process.

Present at the breaking ground ceremony was Alcoa's CEO Klaus Kleinfeld along with Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and other dignitaries, including Senator Lamar Alexander and Congressman John Duncan.
