The decision to establish this commission was reached during negotiations between the Guinean Government and Rusal. The parties confirmed their strategic partnership and underscored the need to continue the cooperation between Rusal and Guinea.

The joint commission was established on 1 March 2010.

Rusal has been operating in Guinea since 2001. The company owns bauxite and alumina complex Friguia and manages Compagnie des Bauxites de Kindia (CBK). Rusal employs more than 300 people in the country. Guinea accounts for 6% of Rusal’s alumina capacity.
