South32 has welcomed its new Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Matthew Daley.

Mr Daley joins South32 from Anglo American plc, where he was Technical and Operations Director and a member of the executive leadership team.

He brings with him extensive operational and leadership experience in the mining and metals industry, across many countries and commodities.

Over the coming months, Mr Daley will visit South32’s operations around the world and meet employees and stakeholders as he learns more about the company.

Mr Daley will work closely with the current CEO Graham Kerr and the South32 leadership team, before stepping into the role of CEO when Mr Kerr steps down later this year.

During this transition period, Mr Kerr will continue to lead South32’s strategy, including the priority of safety performance and the ongoing transformation of the company’s portfolio.
