Sorg’s 2022 rebuild will reduce NOx emissions and improve combustion processes at Weck Glass, its partner of more than 60 years.
Weck jars have been used in German households for presenting, preserving and portioning food as well as gastronomy for more than 100 years.
Sorg has provided Weck’s equipment for its glassmaking processes since 1960. The latest furnaces were built in 2008 and 2015 through the installation of further forehearths on existing furnaces.
The 2022 rebuild will improve the quality of combustion process. While using the same furnace size, the melting capacity will rise by stronger boosting.
The optimisation of the furnace’s geometry and its design serves will reduce emissions, NOx in particular. Reducing NOx will be achieved with Sorg’s control and regulation technology, combined with the installation of compressed air injection.
The performance and efficiency of the furnaces, together with good service and high flexibility, has encouraged Weck Glass to continue to rely on Sorg as a trusted partner for the future.
Demand for Weck products boomed at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.
This led to Sorg aiding in the expansion of its Bonn-Duisdorf plant, which has produced Weck jars since 1950.
Sorg’s emissions technologies were installed within the regenerator crown several years ago. Using this technology means that emissions can be analysed continually to determine the quality of the combustion process.
