“This is a major project for the Sebree plant, one that is critical for the smelter’s longevity,” said Stephane Leblanc, plant manager at the Sebree aluminium smelter.
The anode bake furnace will be utilised to bake 1600 pound green anodes that are used in the smelting process. This project is the second, larger phase of a total revitalisation of the bake furnace area at the Sebree smelter, and will complete the replacement process.
The first phase was completed last year.
