The start-up date for the smelter, which when fully operational will have an annual capacity of 750kt, was announced at last week's ARABAL conference in Qatar.
An insider source told AIT that the initial start-up will involve just two pots and that the site will be opened officially by the head of the Saudi Royal Family.
