RUSAL announces that it has been working with the Lipetsk Pipe Company Svobodny Sokol in the production of aluminium cast pipes which are comparable in quality to products made from conventional materials.
The casting technology makes it possible to produce pipes with a diameter of up to 1 metre and a length of up to 6 metres for the needs of housing and utility services, oil and gas production, as well as fire extinguishing. In the near future, tests to evaluate the new high-strength alloy developed by RUSAL will be conducted, which will provide aluminium pipes with the same mechanical strength characteristics as steel and cast-iron pipes.
The price of aluminium pipes is comparable to that of high strength cast iron products. Notably, the weight of aluminium pipes is 3 times less than the weight of cast iron analogues. This ensures a reduction in the cost of transportation and installation of pipelines, which is especially important for difficult access area.

In the long run, it is possible to arrange the production of high-strength aluminium centrifugally cast pipes with a capacity of more than 10 thousand tonnes of casting per year at the production facilities of Lipetsk Pipe Company Svobodny Sokol.
