It leads to reduced capital investment and operating costs while improving anode quality.

The technology is already in operation in three smelters in the Middle East: Qatalum commissioned on 17 February 2010, has already reached 52t/h with ramp up to a nominal 60t/h.

More than 10000 green anodes were produced during this period. Sohar Aluminium was commissioned in 2008, and operates at 36t/h while Alba line 5 commissioned in 2005, operates at 35t/h of green anodes.

Hindalco’s Ma-han and Aditya sites operating at 35t/h and 52t/h respectively will use Rhodax.

In 2010, the technology will contribute to the production of about 1Mt of aluminium in the Middle East region.
