Primetals Technologies has upgraded Impol Seval’s aluminium cold rolling mill in Sevojno, Serbia.
The company implemented a new Technological Control System (TCS), replacing an outdated control system.
This will significantly improve strip thickness and flatness control and deliver enhanced product quality and operational reliability.
Following commissioning, Primetals Technologies recently received the final acceptance certificate (FAC) from Impol, marking the official completion of the project.
The previous control system had become obsolete and faced a shortage of spare parts.
However, by integrating advanced control algorithms, this new solution ensures precise process control and stable production.
The TCS also features a fully integrated human-machine interface (HMI) for the entire mill, ensuring smooth operation.
Additionally, the video surveillance enables synchronised analysis of video streams, HMI images, and process data, simplifying troubleshooting and process optimisation.
The project also included comprehensive training for Impol’s maintenance and operations teams, ensuring a seamless transition to the new system.
According to Primetals Technologies, strong collaboration with Impol was key to the project's success, with careful planning to align component deliveries and to minimise disruptions to operations.
