Hydro enters into new long-term power contract for Neuss aluminium plant in Germany
Norwegian aluminium company Norsk Hydro ASA's fully owned subsidiary, Hydro Aluminium Rolled Products GmbH , has secured a power contract with Axpo Trading AG, a Switzerland-based energy company with captive power production and international trading activity, totalling 0,9 TWh (100 MW) annually in the eight year period from 2018 to 2025.

The Aluminum Association has announced the addition of three new member companies: HEICHE GROUP US Surface Technology; Phinix, LLC; and Walter Surface Technologies. The firms join as associate members – firms that supply the North American aluminium industry with goods and services.

Rio Tinto's Kitimat smelter begins production
The modernisation of the aluminium smelter will increase production capacity by 48% and result in Kitimat becoming one of the lowest cost smelters in the world. Having achieved first production in June 2015, Rio Tinto is now focused on safely ramping up towards its annual production rate of 420,000 tonnes.
