Rio Tinto's Icelandic aluminium plant attracts Glencore - sources
According to reports, at least three companies including Glencore (GLEN.L) have expressed an interest in buying Rio Tinto’s aluminium assets in Iceland, Sweden and the Netherlands for up to $350 million.

Alcoa announces planned restart, new labour contract for Aluminerie de Bécancour smelter in Québec
Alcoa Corporation, a global leader in bauxite, alumina, and aluminium products, announced that the Aluminerie de Bécancour Inc. (ABI) smelter plans to restart curtailed smelting capacity after members of the United Steelworkers union in Québec, Canada today approved a six-year labour agreement.

SNC-Lavalin awarded engineering and project management support services by Emirates Global Aluminium
SNC-Lavalin (TSX: SNC) has been awarded a three-year Master Services Agreement by Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) to provide engineering and project management support services to complement its existing resources in delivering operations capital projects at EGA's Al Taweelah and Jebel Ali smelter Complexes, and Al Taweelah alumina refinery.

Ottawa and Quebec award nearly $2.8 million for the start-up of the FjordAl Aluminium plant
The governments of Canada and Quebec are providing a total of $2,780,000 in financial assistance to the company FjordAl Aluminium for starting up an aluminium rod manufacturing plant in the Jonquière sector of Saguenay.
