Alunorte and UFPA sign agreement for sustainable research with bauxite residue
In June, Alunorte and the Federal University of Pará (UFPA) signed an agreement to carry out research on the feasibility of producing low-carbon cement from bauxite residue.

On the path to Aluminium Electrolysis 4.0
TRIMET Aluminium SE is participating in the “Aluminium Electrolysis 4.0” project. In cooperation with the University of Wuppertal (BUW), the materials specialist is developing innovative concepts for a more efficient production of aluminium in fused-salt electrolysis and for adapting aluminium production to the power supply through renewable energies.

NZAS terminates electricity contract and plans to wind-down operations following strategic review
Rio Tinto will start planning for the wind-down of operations and the eventual closure of New Zealand Aluminium Smelters (NZAS) following the conclusion of its strategic review which has shown the business is no longer viable given high energy costs and a challenging outlook for the Aluminium industry.

Emirates Global Aluminium has announced that production at its new Al Taweelah alumina refinery achieved nameplate capacity from bauxite to alumina for June, a major milestone in the ramp-up of the giant plant.

Hydro: Production resumed at Paragominas and Alunorte
