A new stage in the course of the Congress in 2013 became joint conferences: ICSOBA - Aluminum of Siberia (ICSOBA - International Committee for Study of Bauxite, Alumina & Aluminium).
More than 600 officers of 230 companies from 33 countries of the World participated in the Congress and Exhibition (including Great Britain, Germany, the Netherlands, Israel, India, UAE, Norway, China, USA, France, Belgium, Bahrain, Brazil, Australia, Jamaica, South Africa and others).
More than 300 reports were presented during the Congress covering the following topics:
Mineral and raw materials sources of non-ferrous and precious metals
Current technologies of mineral raw materials extraction
Alumina and bauxite production
Non-ferrous and rare metals production
Aluminum reduction technology
Precious metals production
Carbon and carbon materials
Casting of non-ferrous metals and alloys
Thermal and pressure metal treatment
Economics, finances, projects in mining and metallurgy
On September 3 a course of overview lectures was presented. The course included general educational lectures in the field of metallurgy, overviews and technical-economical lectures of leading scientists of the World.
The Congress section, specialised in Metal sciences, pressure and thermal treatment of metals, included the Biront’s Memory Readings in commemoration of Vitaliy Biront, Doctor of technical sciences, Professor, Fellow of International Higher Education Academy of Sciences, R&D Expert of Ministry of industry, science and technologies of Russian Federation, Honored worker of Higher school of Russian Federation, Winner of Professor Award.
Non-Ferrous Metals 2013 is an important step in the program of training of young experts. In the course of discussions conventional approaches to training of engineers were considered as well as variants of interaction between universities and mining-metallurgical companies at the final stage of education. In addition, students and post-graduates, who achieved meaningful results in the aforementioned topics, were invited to participate in the Congress for presentation of their reports.
Leading Russian and foreign companies specialising in development of technologies and supplies of equipment for mining and metallurgical industry participated in the Exhibition: ALTEK, BASF Mining Solutions, Bokela, Bruker, Buss AG, Buss ChemTech AG, Claudius Peters Projects, Danieli Corus, Maschinenfabrik Gustav Eirich, FESTO, FIVES Solios, Gas-Cleaning, Gormashexport, GOUDA Refractories, Intertech, Industrial Monitoring & Control, Hangzhou New Time Valve, HAZEMAG, Hencon, Luft und Thermotechnik Bayreuth, Mid-Mountain Materials, Nalco-An Ecolab Company, NKM Noell Special Cranes, NPC MHD, Outotec, Pnevmomash, POLYUS, Precision Light and Air, Pressmash, Putzmeister Solid Pumps, Riedhammer, Sermas Industrie, Sibtsvetmetniiporject, Shandong Jingjin Environmental Protection Equipment, Soyuzmash, Storvik, Thermo Techno, Weir Minerals Netherlands, WILO and others.
Five round-table discussions were one of the key events of the Congress 2013.
The following topics were discussed with support from the Government of Krasnoyarsk Territory:
Implementation of innovative technologies for processing of wastes in metallurgy and machine building
Within the discussion by the experts of metallurgical companies (TH BaikAL, UC RUSAL, GMK Norilsk Nickel, Polyus, Krasnoyarsk Non-Ferrous Metals Plant, Siberian Federal University and others) the present state of generation and disposal of industrial wastes in the Territory was considered, the existing processing technologies were discussed, as well as main factors which restrict possibilities to increase the usage of the wastes.
Arrangement of a site for activities with open custom innovations in Krasnoyarsk Territory
Within the discussion proposals were presented with regard to arrangement of a site for activities with open custom innovations, which could combine all steps of the chain: Order for innovation, searching for solution of the problem, attraction of venture investments and provision of infrastructure support for project implementation.
Under the guidance of Krasnoyarsk Regional Division of Russian Engineering Union the round-table discussion was conducted devoted to Potentials of application of aluminium in new industry, resulted in consideration of development of advanced downstream processing of aluminium and increase in manufacturing of products with higher added value. This topic is especially urgent since Russia is characterized with misbalance between primary aluminium production and downstream products, the first item being more considerable.
In order to develop this trend of the industry the Territorial companies: Krasmash, KraMZ, KMK, administration of the City of Krasnoyarsk, Ministry of industry and trade of the Territory, Siberian State Aerospace University entered into Agreement for cooperation. This document settles arrangements between the parties concerning the required conditions for establishment and development of R&D center in Krasnoyarsk for manufacturing of transport engineering products based on downstream processing of aluminium alloys. Ceremonial signing of the document took place directly during the round-table discussion.
Siberian Federal University organised the round-table discussion: Modernisation of the vocational training system, where the issues of personnel training for metallurgical industry were discussed with participation of officers of industrial companies.
In addition, the round-table discussion Cooperation in the field of exploration of mineral resources took place with participation of the Helmholtz Association and Siberian Federal University.
In this year the participants visited RUSAL Achinsk Alumina Plant, RUSAL Khakass Aluminum Plant, RUSAL Krasnoyarsk Aluminium Plant, Krasnoyarsk Hydropower Station, Gulidov Krasnoyarsk Plant of Non-Ferrous Metals.
The Organising Committee is grateful to all participants and invites to participate in the Non-Ferrous Metals and Minerals Congress and Exhibition on September 16-19, 2014.
