Bayers' process is normally used for extraction of alumina from bauxite while the new process has been developed in-house by Nalco.
In an attempt to commercialize the R&D process developed by Nalco, the agreement was signed on behalf of the Company by Mr PK Mohapatra ED (P&T) and Mr N Patel MD of Earth Refining Company.
Earth Refining Company is also exploring the possibility of about a 26% equity in Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation to build using the process knowhow at Bhuj in Gujarat.
