The state-owned company is in the process of inviting bids for setting up a 50MW wind energy project, possibly in Gujarat, Rajasthan or Tamil Nadu.
Nalco would enter into separate contracts with the successful bidder for sale of land, engineering, procurement and construction, and operation and maintenance of the project.
The company is also in the process of setting up smaller wind towers at high-altitude regions in Orissa where its mining operations are located to ascertain if such projects are feasible in that area.
