Magnitude 7 Metals plans to restart its primary aluminium smelter in Missouri, USA.
The facility's first potline is scheduled to come online before the end of 2026, adding 75,000 tons of annual aluminium capacity.
David Kaplan, owner of Magnitude 7 Metals, said: “[This] announcement represents more than the return of production – it reflects renewed confidence in America's industrial strength and future.
“We are proud to restore critical domestic aluminium capacity, creating hundreds of new good-paying manufacturing jobs in Marston, Missouri, and invest in the long-term resilience of American manufacturing.
“President Trump's 50% aluminium tariff has created the conditions for that investment."
The facility previously closed in 2024, resulting in the layoff of approximately 500 workers.
The American Primary Aluminum Association (APAA) said that this restart, combined with Century Aluminum's expansion project in South Carolina, would increase domestic primary aluminium production by over 20%.
