On September 19th, ALLIANCE (Affordable Lightweight Automobiles Alliance) will host their final event, the Future of Automotive Lightweighting Day, following the Aachen Body Engineering Days.

The event will include the final results of over 3 years of automotive lightweighting research on materials, process technologies and support tools, the impact these are expected to generate on the environment, and on cost – for the driver, and OEMs.

Participants will also receive a guided tour of the ALLIANCE demonstrators, by the OEMs and suppliers, including Daimler AG, Opel, Toyota, Centro Ricerche Fiat S.C.p.A. (CRF) and thyssenkrupp AG.

Dr. Sama Mbang from Daimler AG, the project officer of ALLIANCE, is looking forward to sharing their innovative solutions with attendees: “the ALLIANCE consortium has together taken tremendous steps in developing innovative material and related processing technologies to further reduce the weight of cars, with the final goal of significantly reducing environmental impact and ensuring sustainable Europe’s competitiveness. We can’t wait to present these far-reaching results for the future of the automotive industry at the final event in September.”

Bax & Company will also present the ALLIANCE roadmap on the future of vehicle lightweighting. The roadmap gathers the opinions of related stakeholders in the field, creating an aligned vision of how this should evolve in the next 10-15 years in order to help reduce the impact of mobility on the environment, as well as help Europe maintain its competitive position.

The event will take place at the Institute for Automotive Engineering (ika) of RWTH Aachen University.

Attendance is free of charge, but registration is required.
