Kaiser in Airbus deal
Kaiser Aluminum Corporation is to supply Airbus aluminium plate and sheet for use in the production of commercial aircraft.
The multi-year agreement will extend Kaiser’s role as a major supplier of semi-fabricated products to Airbus.
Liancheng construction
Chalco’s Liancheng Aluminium is expected to put all of its newly-constructed potlines into production by the end of this year.
The first batch of the potlines, with a designed capacity of 130kt/y started trial operation in March this year. Total capacity of the expansion project is 388kt/y.
The project is said to be equipped with most advanced technology in the world, as the potlines will operate with current strength of 500kA.

Hertwich plant order
Hertwich Engineering, Austria, has received an order from Sapa RC Profiles, of Ghlin, Belgium, for the supply of a continuous homogenizing plant.
It means Sapa can produce billet diameters of 228mm and 254mm. Hertwich will supply a continuous homogenizing plant, a cooling station as well as a newly developed ‘turbo’ cooler and a sawing and packing station. This plant is to replace an older plant and commissioning will be in September 2011.
Furnaces contract
Inductotherm company Bricmont has been awarded a contract to supply eight high production capacity round top charge aluminium melting furnaces and eight rectangular tilting holding furnaces for Weiqiao Aluminum and Electricity Company in Shandong Province, China.
The installation will incorporate features including regenerative burners, electro magnetic stirring, in bath metal refining and advanced controls.
Commissioning is set for late 2012.
