The IAI has recently announced the appointment of two new key members to the team, who will support the Association’s environmental awareness mission.


Dr Paul Marsh joins as Health, Safety & Environment Program Manager, while Lavinya Kugaswaran will take on the role of Environment (Bauxite & Alumina) Program Manager.

The key objectives of the Institute include increased awareness to the unique circular nature of aluminium recyclability, promoting R&D into recycling aluminium, healthy, safe and environmentally sound production of aluminium and Communicate between agencies, members and other parties on global matters.


Dr Paul Marsh - Health, Safety & Environment Program Manager

With over 18 years of experience in scientific and regulatory affairs within the metals industry and an MChem (Hons) and a DPhil in chemistry, he has been responsible for overseeing the IAI’s broad science work programme and has been involved in projects relating to toxicology, ecotoxicology.


Lavinya Kugaswaran - Environment (Bauxite & Alumina) Program Manager

With 5 years of experience in operations as a Geotechnical Engineer and holds a BSc Geography and Geology, an MSc Applied Geotechnical Engineering, and an MBA. She has worked as a representative on the mining perspective on the European Commission’s Sustainable Finance Platform for future European policy development, is a founding leader on the Just Transformation Program over the last two years alongside European regions to undergo systemic decarbonisation as well as more.
