European Aluminium has joined forces with 11 other industry associations in the raw materials, aerospace & defense, and clean tech sectors to advocate for the formal recognition of aluminium's strategic significance. Their goal is to have it included in the Strategic Raw Materials list of the EU’s Critical Raw Materials Act.
Together, European Aluminium and the associations sent and published a joint letter addressed to Members of the European Parliament today.
The European Commission has already acknowledged the strategic importance of aluminium in its impact assessment and several studies. The association now claim it's time to turn recognition into action, and state that they are hopeful that MEPs will support them in making the recognition official.
