Hydro’s aluminium fabrication plant in Taicang has achieved certification according to the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) Performance Standard, joining its sister site in Suzhou, which was certified in May 2022.
The Taicang plant employs around 370 people and is located about one hour north of Shanghai. In 2020, Hydro moved the fabrication activities to Taicang after 20 years in Shanghai, for reasons linked to sustainable business development.
“The process leading to this achievement reflects a very strong collaboration between our departments and an outstanding group of dedicated and customer minded employees, and ASI certification has a value that will benefit our customers,” says Jeff Lehman, Vice President of Hydro Precision Tubing Asia.
The Taicang plant uses its advanced equipment and technology to manufacture extruded aluminium profiles and tube products for local and global customers in the automotive, HVAC and industrial industries. Its product range includes cooling plates, guide rails, engine housings/covers, heat sinks, air coolers and manifolds.
Hydro Extrusions is the largest business area in Hydro, delivering tailored aluminium components and solutions to all industries, from automotive and mass transportation to building and construction, electronics, offshore and maritime. The business area serves more than 30,000 customers globally.
