Skanska has signed a contract with Hydro for the construction of a new aluminium wire production facility at Karmøy, Norway.

The contract is worth approximately NOK 1.1 billion and will be booked in the third quarter of 2026.

The project involves the construction of a new industrial facility at Hydro's existing factory.

The facility will include a production hall with furnaces and a production line, as well as buildings for storage, maintenance and office functions.

The work also includes foundation works, technical installations and connection to existing infrastructure.

The new production line will have a capacity of around 110,000 tons of aluminium wire per year.

The contract is the result of a completed interaction phase between the parties, where the project was developed jointly before construction began.

Pål Aglen, Executive Vice President for Construction at Skanska Norway, said: "This is an important project for us and a good example of how we develop and implement complex industrial projects in close collaboration with the customer.

"The interaction phase has provided a solid foundation for the further implementation."

Construction work is already underway, and the project is scheduled for completion in March 2028.
