The Horizon Aluminium event in Saguenay, Québec, Canada, recently welcomed visitors from around the world.

Representatives from Germany, Finland, France, the United States, Spain, and Iceland were in attendance.

The inaugural event was organised by the Aluminium Valley Society (AVS), which contributes to the growth of aluminium companies and specialised equipment manufacturing.

Lilianne Savard, Executive Director of the AVS, said: “The presence of visitors from multiple continents highlights the strategic role that Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean and Québec play in the aluminium industry.

“Horizon Aluminium is a powerful platform to showcase our local mastery, build meaningful business connections, and drive meaningful partnerships forward.”

The organising committee said that the participation of international stakeholders, combined with the quality of the conferences and speakers, reflected the sector’s strong interest in this edition.

In addition, the Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED) granted a non-repayable contribution of $50,000 to the AVS.

Mélanie Joly, Minister of Industry and the Minister responsible for CED, said: “SMEs and organisations play a central role in innovation and economic growth in our communities, and supporting their growth is a priority for our government.

“CED’s funding enabled the AVS to host Horizon Aluminium 2026, an important international gathering aimed at raising the profile of a key industrial ecosystem for the Quebec economy.

“The AVS’s contribution to the Saguenay‒Lac-Saint-Jean region’s economic vitality is important, and our entire economy will benefit from the success and spin-offs of its project.”
