Hindalco targets $2.1 billion Odisha alumina expansion

Bauxite ore is mined for the production of alumina, from which aluminium is produced.

Hindalco, part of the Aditya Birla Group, plans to scale up its Kansariguda alumina refinery in Odisha, India.

The Aditya Birla Group aims to invest an additional ~₹12,000 crore (approximately USD 1.2 billion) in the project.

This will bring the total expected investment to ~₹20,000 crore (approximately USD 2.1 billion).

The expansion will increase the refinery's capacity to 3 million tonnes per year.
