The group has been set up to represent, promote and protect the interests of the aluminium industry in the region.
Its official headquarters are in Dubai and its board is made up of the CEO’s of its six founding companies: Alba, Dubal, Emal, Qatalum, Sohar and Ma’aden.
The board-elected chairman of the council is Dubal CEO Abdulla Kalban, who said the council’s main objectives were to support the successful growth of the industry in the region.
The council will also provide a forum to develop strategies on common issues and concerns, share best practices, explore synergy opportunities and serve as a co-ordinated voice for the industry in the Gulf.
