Once up and running, the plant will produce 400kt per annum of aluminium sheet ingot from recycled material. Once operational, the plant will be the largest recycling centre in the world, claims Novelis.
Phil Martens, CEO of Novelis, says that the new facility 'represents another step in delivering on our commitment to dramatically increase the recycled content of the rolled aluminium sheet we provide to our world-class global customers.'
Martens added that the plant signified Novelis' long-term commitment to the European market and will go some way towards the company's goal of achieving 80% recycled content by 2020.
