Construction of the $20M site at Chelyabinsk Electrode Plant began last July and the first pilot batch of anode blocks was manufactured there in the autumn.
The site’s infrastructure includes a modern vibrating press processing line. The installed equipment allows manufacturing a wide range of products compliant with contemporary world standards.
The project also involved the modernisation of preparation and raw materials processing facilities. Heating mixing equipment technology using high-temperature organic heat-carrying agents instead of steam was also implemented in the production process.
A further step in the development of anode production at CEP will involve launching a rotary kiln. Installation of an increased-capacity burning kiln is currently under way and will be launched in May 2012. Another increased-capacity burning kiln will be launched in December.
