The Environment Protection Law (EPL) came into effect on 1 January and is China’s first attempt to harmonise economic and social development with environmental protection and is seen as the most progressive and stringent law in the country’s history of environmental protection. It details harsh penalties for offences such as tampering and falsifying data, discharging pollutants covertly and evading supervision. It also contains provisions for tackling pollution, raising public awareness and protecting whistle-blowers, while placing more responsibility and accountability on local governments and law-enforcement agencies and setting higher standards for enterprises.
“To lead the aluminium industry to green, low-carbon development and energy conservation, Aluminium China 2015 will highlight the world’s most up-to-date aluminium processing products to improve the overall environmental protection level of the industry,” said Chris Zang, Senior Project Manager of Reed Exhibitions China, organisers of Aluminium China 2015. “Environmental and green development of the aluminium industry is vital to sustain economic, ecological and social development.”
Rapid growth in the Chinese aluminium industry over the last decade has been driven by the country’s accelerating economy, but has led to excess capacity and serious pollution problems. The introduction of EPL is now putting pressure on companies and factories to change. To address this, the 11th Aluminium China exhibition and conference in Shanghai, from 8-10 July, has introduced a special environmental protection and energy conservation zone that will provide realistic solutions to help organisations to comply with EPL. The three day exhibition and conference will attract over 17,000 industry professionals and buyers from China and other Asian and global markets and showcase over 550 international exhibitors from 30 countries; representing the entire aluminium production chain, from raw materials, semi-finished and finished products to production and processing machinery and accessories.
This year’s event will feature six new themes, activities and pavilions including, The Revolutionary Influence of New Energy Vehicles on Automotive Parts; Architectural Aluminium Enterprises Lean Management Symposium; Upgrade Aluminium Downstream Processing Forum and Display Zone; and the Industrial Environment Protection (IEP) Pavilion. In addition, a special Targeted Attendee Program (TAP) will introduce senior Diamond VIP corporate executives and high level professionals with specific purchasing requirements to key leading experts and suppliers in the aluminium industry.
And to provide additional value for international visitors to Aluminium China 2015, there is the opportunity to attend two aluminium factory tours, to experience the most advanced downstream processing and machinery and collect first-hand information of potential suppliers.
Aluminium China attracts leading industry players from China and around the world, including Novelis, UACJ, SAPA, Primetals, Fata Hunter and Wagstaff.
The conference also attracts experts from scientific research and business and this year’s presentations will also focus on environmental issues such as the disposal and recovery of waste water, alkali corrosion additives and colorants from aluminium surface anodising; along with other hot topics in the surface treatment field, including corrosion protection, abrasion resistance, high-temperature resistance, and oxidation resistance. The results of these developments will be to provide aluminium surface treatment and integrated solutions for space flight and aviation, new energy, construction, machine building and other relevant industries.
