Earlier in the year, Chalco had threatened legal action against the mine's owner, Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi (ETT) following the halting of deliveries by ETT who wanted to renegotiate the contract, which was originally agreed between the two parties back in 2011. In January this year, ETT said the price paid by Chalco for the coal was now way below the cost of production.
While ETT is still seeking to renegotiate the contract, deliveries of coal to Chalco will resume immediately.
The Tavan Tolgoi mine holds an estimated 7.5 billion tonnes of coal.
