Last year’s second quarter results were impacted by a loss of $73.2M related to the sale of the Gramercy Alumina and St Ann Bauxite joint ventures and a charge of $9M related to costs of production curtailments at the Ravenswood, WV and Hawesville, primary smelters.

It said negotiations were continuing on new labour contracts for its Hawesville, KY smelter. Shipments of primary aluminium for the quarter totaled 144580t compared with 145 693t in the year-ago quarter.
