Century Aluminium expect to invest up to a total of $30 million in Jamalco next year.
Jamalco is a bauxite mining and alumina production company based in Jamaica, co-owned by Century Aluminium and Clarendon Alumina Production.
Century Aluminium have previously invested in Jamalco to develop a steam turbine generator.
The steam turbine generator is now on-site and will be installed at the plant for operation in the first quarter of 2026.
Century Aluminium is now looking to expand its investment in Jamalco through different projects.
The initiative will include $10 to $15 million in sustaining costs, as well as a $10 to $15 million additional investment.
CFO of Century Aluminium, Peter Trpkovski, stated: “We have identified some other projects to get the business back to its nameplate capacity, and get it back to the second quartile of the cost curve.”
The decision was discussed in Century Aluminium’s meeting with investors in its second quarter earnings call for 2025.
