TRIMET Aluminium SE has achieved ASI Performance Standard V2 (2017) Certifications for production of liquid aluminium and sows at its TRIMET Aluminium Hamburg and Voerde facilities. With the certification of these facilities, TRIMET Aluminium SE has achieved Performance Standard certification across all their primary aluminium production sites.
The company uses both primary and recycled aluminium to produce liquid aluminium and aluminium wire, as well as rolling ingots, extrusion billets and casting alloys. The Hamburg facility has an annual production capacity of 135,000 tonnes, and the Voerde facility produces 95,000 tonnes annually.
Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that TRIMET Aluminium SE has been certified against the ASI Performance Standard for the production of liquid aluminium and sows.
The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard V2 (2017) defines environmental, social and governance principles and criteria, with the aim to address sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain. It sets out 59 criteria under the three sustainability pillars of Environment, Social, and Governance, which address key issues such as biodiversity, labour rights, Indigenous Peoples rights, and greenhouse gas emissions.
The independent, third-party audits of the TRIMET Aluminium SE Hamburg and Voerde facilities were carried out by TÜV NORD CERT GmbH. The audits took place prior to May 31, 2023, thus enabling a Performance Standard V2 certification.
“We warmly congratulate TRIMET Aluminium SE for achieving ASI Performance Standard Certifications at its Hamburg and Voerde sites. Process digitalisation and modernisation, technology adoption, as well as the utilisation of process heat for district heating underscores the company’s efforts towards energy efficiency and carbon footprint reduction. TRIMET Aluminium SE’s Performance Standard V2 certifications acknowledges their progress in the adoption and implementation of broader responsible production policies and practices.”
– Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI
