AMETEK Surface Vision, a world leader in automated online surface inspection solutions, will exhibit its latest innovations to the Asian market at this year’s Aluminium China trade fair, held in Shanghai’s New International Expo Centre, July 10 -12.
Delegates can meet the AMETEK Surface Vision team at stand 2H36 and learn more about the latest advancements in surface inspection monitoring and process surveillance in aluminium production.
A proven partner for increasing efficiency and improving product quality in the metals industry for over three decades, AMETEK Surface Vision continues to innovate highly-precise, real-time detection and classification of metal defects, with its market-leading SmartView® surface inspection solution.
Highly-customisable to meet individual customer process needs, SmartView’s reliable, real-time optical inspection of both sides of the metal product provides full visibility of surface quality in the most-demanding metal processing environments. Its continual system innovation supports manufacturers to increase product yields while lowering costs for a wide range of aluminium applications including the scalper, hot mill, cold rolling mill, tension leveller, annealing line, coating line, slitter including Al foil slitter and high-speed trimming line, and cut-to-length line.
AMETEK Surface Vision’s SmartView system examines surface condition in much the same way a person would, studying the area and comparing it against expectations and past experience. The main difference is that it can operate much faster, providing immediate results and consistently reporting the surface quality based on a configurable classification scale of defect type and severity.
SmartView’s monitoring software automatically measures and reports the surface quality characteristics of strip, both over a roller and unsupported, allowing for the measurement of overall surface properties at high speed. The system can even predict post-processing properties of the product while it is being produced, allowing operators to remove sub-standard coil from the process at an early stage.
This software suite is continually evolving, with recent upgrades including an enhanced, intuitive user interface, parts-per-million data calculations, and developments to SmartView’s thresholding and parallel classification capabilities. The most recent update added a Synchronised Web Viewer, which allows the user to open multiple viewers and use video file system enhancements, enabling more efficient handling of large numbers of inspection files.
Shu Hua Wang, Sales Director - China, AMETEK Surface Vision commented: “The demand for metal manufacturers to deliver high-quality aluminium products has only increased in recent years, especially in regions of rapid growth such as China. Our approach is simple: to provide the latest inspection solution optimised for each application, delivered with the highest consistency and without compromise. SmartView’s real-time information has proved invaluable in problem-solving for our clients – by eliminating the reliance on post-production physical strip inspection, manufacturers are able to overcome significant hurdles.”
Aluminium China 2019 is the premier event for Asia’s aluminium industry supply chain, bringing professionals and its applications together from nearly 100 countries. More than 25,000 visitors are expected to attend with at least 600 companies scheduled to exhibit.
The team will exhibit alongside sister company AMETEK Land, who will be demonstrating the latest infrared temperature measurement solutions for aluminium extrusion, quench and strip applications.
Delegates visiting stand 2H36 are also invited to pick up AMETEK Surface Vision’s new metals industry guide, which outlines the benefits of the SmartView system’s real-time video and modular design flexibility for metal manufacturers.
