Aluminum Dynamics plans to develop a $200 million recycled aluminium slab centre in Lowndes County, Mississippi, which will create 100 jobs.

The planned facility will be in the Golden Triangle Industrial Park in Lowndes County and will recycle aluminium-bearing materials, largely in the form of used beverage cans, to produce 180,000 metric tons of slab for use in aluminium products industry.

It is expected to begin operations in the first half of 2027.

The Mississippi Development Authority says it is providing assistance for direct road and rail infrastructure improvements.

The project also qualifies for tax incentives through the Mississippi Major Economic Impact Authority programme. Lowndes County is assisting with the project, as well.

Aluminum Dynamics Operations Manager Devin Crawford, said: “We are eager to move forward with this project, and we appreciate the warm welcome and support that we have received from Gov. Tate Reeves and the state of Mississippi, as well as leaders from the Mississippi Development Authority and local leaders from the Lowndes County Board of Supervisors, the Lowndes County Industry Development Authority and the Golden Triangle Development Link."

Aluminum Dynamics already operates a greenfield recycled-content flat-rolled aluminium mill in Columbus, Mississippi, a project it announced in 2022.
