It has signed a Letter of Intent with the Zhenjiang Municipal People's Government regarding new investment which would be built by 2014. If approved, construction of new production capacity would be expected to begin by the end of 2012.

Steven J Demetriou, Aleris chairman said the company was also on-track to complete the construction of a new cold rolling mill in its facility in Duffel, Belgium, by the end of 2012 to increase its capacity to produce automotive-body sheet.

Earlier this year, Aleris began construction of a $300M greenfield rolling mill in Zhenjiang City, with completion expected in Q4 2012.

It is a joint venture between Aleris and Zhenjiang Dingsheng Aluminum Industries Joint-Stock. The facility will produce aluminium plate for the aerospace, general engineering, tooling and molding, petrochemical and transportation industries.
