Alcan Cable is to shed 33 jobs at its Roseburg, Oregon, USA plant, citing a significant drop-off in business and corporate-wide reorganisation.
Oregon’s Department of Community Colleges and Workforce Development received an official Warn Act notice of the layoffs. A list of affected positions included 20 production operators and four maintenance technicians. Workers will receive 60 days of pay and benefits.
In the last round of layoffs, announced in April 2009, the maker of aluminium cable, rod and strip products cut 32 jobs. Alcan Cable is based in Atlanta and operates throughout North America. Its corporate parent, Alcan Inc, is based in Montreal.
