Impressions Technology Webinar Series

29th March (2pm GMT)

Webinar 3 (29th March) : HFQ lightweighting for electric vehicles

The Hot Form Quench (HFQ®) process from Impression Technologies Limited (ITL) is a proven method for hot viscoplastic forming of ultra-high strength aluminium (UHSAL) alloys including 2x, 6x and 7x series, with parts in serial production for automotive applications since 2016. HFQ provides many benefits to OEMs including reduction in weight, part integration, elimination of spring-back issues and attendance cost savings versus conventional forming methods.

This last of the current HFQ webinar series will run through case studies of application of HFQ for automotive structures covering upper structures, door inners and the potential for battery enclosures and other electrical structures. The benefits of HFQ against alternative materials and forming technologies will be explained as well as how manufacturers and users of lightweight structures should approach the design and simulation process in order to achieve the most cost-effective solutions.
