Aluminium Düsseldorf 2024, one of the most prestigious trade fairs in the global aluminium industry, will be held for the 14th time in Düsseldorf, Germany. The event will feature 730 exhibitors from 100 countries, including a strong representation from Turkey with 102 participating companies. The fair will bring together leading players in the aluminium industry, showcasing products and innovations in categories such as aluminium profiles, semi-finished products, surface and joining technologies, raw materials, recycling, metal processing, welding, cutting, automation machines, flat products, and aluminium applications.
Since its establishment in 1986, the Istanbul Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters' Association (İDDMİB) has grown to represent 8,000 members as of 2023. İDDMİB will take part in Aluminium Düsseldorf 2024 with a 30 m² information booth, reflecting its commitment to supporting the aluminium, copper, kitchenware, construction, hardware, casting, and packaging sectors. The association's mission is to increase exports, diversify products, and enhance the global competitiveness of Turkish companies. As a non-profit organisation, İDDMİB leads new-generation export initiatives, including international fair participations, foreign and domestic trade missions, URGE (clustering) projects, R&D efforts, design competitions, and the Trade365 platform.
The Turkish Aluminium Sector ranks first in Turkey’s Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals exports, holding a significant 38% share. With exports to 203 countries, Turkish aluminium products are highly regarded for their superior quality, competitive pricing, and timely delivery, meeting international standards recognised by top global retailers and leading markets. For over 30 years, Turkish aluminium companies have actively participated in major exhibitions across Europe, Asia, and the USA, establishing the "Turkish Aluminium" brand on the global stage.
In addition to traditional trade channels, Turkish companies are accessible through TurkishAluminium365, a digital platform that operates 365 days a year. This platform enables seamless communication between Turkish exporters and global buyers, providing a comprehensive showcase of the sector's products and services.
Mr. Çetin Tecdelioğlu, Chairman of the Board of Directors at İDDMİB, emphasised the critical importance of Aluminium Düsseldorf 2024 for the Turkish aluminium sector: “As you know, the aluminium sector plays a vital role in our industry, supplying essential semi-finished and finished products. The global demand for aluminium continues to grow, driven by expanding applications in new technologies and production models, especially in sectors such as defense, construction, and automotive. Aluminium is also becoming increasingly embedded in everyday life. The sector now exports to 203 countries, with the USA, the UK, and EU countries as the top markets. In 2023, exports to the top 10 countries accounted for 43% of the sector's total exports.
When we examine the figures, we observe a notable increase in both the export volume and the added value generated. Despite this growth, profitability and sustainable development remain critical challenges. Companies face rising financing costs and raw material supply issues while competing with local producers, particularly in international markets.
Furthermore, the aluminium sector is at the forefront of the EU’s Green Deal, adopted in 2019. As one of the pilot sectors for the Green Deal, we are actively working with dedicated working groups on the Border Carbon Regulation Mechanism. Our goal is to ensure that Turkish companies align their policies with green transformation principles and successfully adapt to the economic transitions underway. Through ongoing training programs and meetings, İDDMİB provides vital guidance to help our members navigate this transformation.”
Aluminium Düsseldorf 2024 offers a premier platform for Turkish aluminium exporters to enhance their global visibility, engage in high-level networking, and showcase cutting-edge innovations. Under the leadership of İDDMİB, the Turkish aluminium sector is well-positioned to continue its trajectory of sustainable growth, meeting the evolving demands of the global market while adapting to critical environmental standards.
