AMAG has been awarded “Gold Star” certification for its sustainability performance by the independent, internationally recognised sustainability and CSR assessment platform EcoVadis. AMAG scored 69 points in total, placing it in the top 2% of all evaluated companies in the precious metals and other non-ferrous metals category.

“Verifiable sustainability is a pivotal element of our corporate strategy and also plays an important role for our customers. This result shows that we don’t just pay lip service to sustainability, but factor it into all our processes. It reaffirms our continued and systematic commitment to our sustainability strategy,” says AMAG CEO Gerald Mayer.

The rating is based on an assessment of 21 criteria in four categories: environment, ethics, labor and human rights, and sustainable procurement. The assessment includes, for example, measures to reduce energy and water consumption, the impact of company activities on biodiversity, management of occupational safety hazards, and waste reduction. The EcoVadis experts highlighted AMAG’s especially strong environmental performance and labor and human rights record.

As a recycling specialist, AMAG is committed to promoting a closed-loop economy and to further increasing its recycling rate, which at 75% to 80% is already above the industry average. In the future, the industry-specific benchmarks of the EcoVadis ranking will make it even easier for AMAG’s clients and partners to compare and rank the company’s performance in terms of sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR).
