Sapa has sold the metal trading company Cuprochimique NV to Belgium-based European Metal Supplies NV. Cuprochimique trades in aluminium profiles, bars, plates and other non-ferrous metals.
European Metal Supplies is in the same field of business as Cuprochimique and will continue the company’s trading operations, according to majority owner David Tavernier. “Together with Cuprochimque we will strengthen our position in the market by expanding our business range and diversifying our product portfolio,” he says.
Cuprochimique has annual turnover of EUR 8-10 million and employs 16 people. It is located in Gent, Belgium. Sapa took over the company in 2003 as part of the acquisition of Remi Claeys Aluminium.
The agreement is effective from June 22.
“With the sale of Cuprochimique, our Benelux organisation will be able to focus on our core activities in the building and construction market, while with European Metal Supplies, Cuprochimique has found a good home to further develop and grow its business,” says Steven Helsen, who is responsible for Sapa’s aluminium building systems operations in the Benelux countries and the UK.
