Profiles project
Guangxi Baise Guangyin Aluminium Co has clinched a deal with the local government of Tianyang County in Baise, Guangxi, China to build a 500kt/y profiles project.
Costing RMB3bn ($452M) the project will be built in two phases. Phase-1, with a designed capacity of 200kt/y, will start construction at the end of this year. The entire project is scheduled for completion in five years. Guangyin is a joint venture between Guangxi Investment
Corporation and Guangya Aluminium Co.

Middle East appointment
Vesuvius has appointed Hussam Mattar who is responsible for developing its Aluminium Casthouse and Industrial Process business in the GCC Region.
Vesuvius has been a refractory supplier and service provider to the Gulf region since the 1970’s. Hussam joins Vesuvius as it commences the project planning process for its 11th turnkey casthouse furnace rebuild at Dubal.
Vesuvius has executed 10 casthouse furnace relines so far, all in operation at Dubal, where it has held the furnace maintenance reline contract since 2005.
Otto appointment
Otto Junker has appointed Atilla Somuncu as general manager for the Thermoprocessing Plants business unit.
Mr Somuncu will reinforce the existing management team of Dr Menzler and Mr Valder. From 1996 to 2010 Mr Somuncu worked for Gautschi Engineering, from 2002 as CEO.
