Total production for the 30 days of September totalled 2.009Mmt down from 2.074Mmt in August (31 days) but down from 2.124Mmt in September 2011.

Over the first nine months of 2012, aluminium production averaged 67.9kt/day, down from 70kt/day over the same period in 2011. Production for the nine-month period totalled 18.610Mmt, down from 19.112Mmt for the same period in 2011.

The IAI reported that Chinese output was down month-on-month by 1.3% but up by 5.7% year-on-year.

Primary aluminium production in China averaged 55.7kt/day in September, down from 56.4kt/day in August and up from 52.7kt/day in September 2011.

Total Chinese production in September totalled 1.672Mmt, down from 1.749Mmt in August but up from the 1.581Mmt figure of September 2011.

Chinese output totalled 14.613Mmt for the first nine months of 2012, up from 13.328Mmt for the same period last year.
