After successfully conducting industrial trials at various plants worldwide, Dubal was one of the first companies to install the brick at full industrial scale.
The LP 50 S brick is a high-density, low porosity, high strength 50% aluminium oxide brick. The combination of these improved characteristics, depending on furnace design and operational maintenance, results in operational advantages in anode baking furnaces, such as increased refractory life, reduction in fire cycle time and hence increased anode output, and reduction in flue wall maintenance costs.
In the next two years Gouda will build an additional tunnel kiln at its newly acquired land adjacent to their current premises, which will increase the production capacity for refractory bricks by approximately 60%.
This will reduce delivery times. Gouda said it expected the new kiln to be fully operational by H1 2013.
