Elopak ASA has successfully achieved certification to the ASI Performance Standard with Material Stewardship focus. The company manufactures liquid cartons, including aseptic cartons with an aluminium lining for liquid food products. Elopak and its joint ventures, as a whole, produce more than 14 billion beverage cartons annually.

Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) has announced that Elopak ASA has been successfully certified against ASI’s Performance Standard with a focus on material stewardship of aluminium. The certification covers Elopak ASA Corporate functions and the coating processes in three European Elopak facilities.

The independent, third-party audits of the Elopak ASA facilities were carried out by DNV Business Assurance Services UK Ltd.

“We sincerely congratulate Elopak ASA on achieving Performance Standard Certification with Material Stewardship focus at its Norway headquarters and three European production facilities. A life cycle approach is critical to aluminium, particularly for packaging, to support the transition to a circular economy. We look forward to Elopak’s next step for Chain of Custody Certification, to support responsible sourcing.”

Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI

Marianne Groven, Director of Sustainability at Elopak ASA said, “We are delighted to receive our ASI Performance Standard Certification, which underscores our continued commitment to sustainability. The responsible production of materials is vital to Elopak’s ambitions to become even more sustainable, both as a company and through the cartons we produce.”
