Hydro’s part-owned primary aluminium plant in Brazil is restarting a production line that experienced a power outage earlier this year.
The Albras plant in Barcarena, Pará state, was operating at 25% reduced capacity following a fire in an electrical transformer in March.
The plant’s three other lines were unaffected and there were no injuries. The production line is expected to be operating at normal capacity during 2020.
Albras has a total production capacity of 460,000 tonnes per year. Hydro owns 51% of Albras, and Nippon Amazon Aluminum Co. Ltd owns 49%.
